Clearing a home after death

All Clear Sussex LTD

How will you clear the property?

The first step

If you find yourself dealing with a loved one’s estate, call us to arrange a free site visit and no obligation quote. If you live further away and can’t be there, we can arrange to obtain the keys from a third party so we can assess the property in your absence. It will only take 20 minutes.

After a discussion with you about your clearance needs, we’ll then assess the items that need to be cleared, identifying items suitable for resale, recycling or disposal.

At the end of the visit, we’ll provide you with a detailed, itemised quote that takes into account the value of resaleable goods present. Should you wish to proceed, we’ll book in a convenient time to return and complete the house clearance.

Save the estimated auction value of resaleable items

Open, fair pricing

Unlike other clearance companies, we have open, transparent and objective pricing, based on the volume of material to be removed. Currently, the rate is £36 per cubic metre, inclusive of VAT. This covers all associated labour, vehicle and waste transfer fees.

Valuables acknowledged and credited for

Our experienced and trained staff are able to accurately identify and appraise items of value. Within a job, we acknowledge and credit for items that have a value of £50 upwards - the widely-accepted auction entry level. We'll even match any independent auction valuation you may have already had. This value is then set against charges, bringing down the cost of the job. This way, you can be assured you're getting a fair price which reflects the true value of the contents of your property.

Clearing the property

On the date agreed, we’ll arrive with all the packing materials we need to neatly remove all contents. It’s not necessary to be present during the works. Upon completion, our staff will give you a courtesy call if you’re not at the house with us. We’ll then email you a photo report for your records, so you can be sure the job is complete.

Transporting items

Items will be sorted as they are cleared from the property, according to their eventual destination. If you have requested that some items be kept, these will be left for you to collect or delivered to your preferred address, according to your instructions.

Leaving the house spotless

Avoid the added hassle of hiring cleaning contractors. We can offer a complete, hassle-free deep clean of your property should you need it, usually undertaken on the day after the house clearance. Regardless of whether you need your property deep cleaned, we’ll thoroughly vacuum your property, leaving it in a great condition as part of our standard service.

Value of an estate

In some cases, a solicitor might need to assess the deceased person’s estate before the contents of the will can be distributed. If you need the contents of the property valued – for inheritance tax purposes, for example – we’ll carry out a valuation before the property is cleared.
